About The Scrabs

The Scrabs has been operating in New York City since we started. We are licensed, insured, and difficult to reach by phone. Our crew handles what other companies won't touch. We don't ask questions. We show up, we assess the situation, and we do what needs to be done. We have never not fixed a gate.

We specialize in roll-down storefront systems, motor-operated access points, emergency bypass situations, and certain other matters that do not require elaboration on this page. We operate anywhere in New York City's five boroughs and surrounding areas.

What We Collect

When you text our number or submit your phone number through this website, we collect your phone number. If you provide your name, we collect that too. We do not collect your email address unless you give it to us voluntarily. We do not collect credit card numbers, social security numbers, or any other financial or government-issued identifiers. We are a gate repair company. We do not need any of that.

How We Use It

We use your phone number to send you text messages about upcoming shows (jobs) performed by The Scrabs in New York City. That is the only thing we use it for. We do not sell your information. We do not share it with third parties for marketing purposes. We do not share it with anyone except the service providers who help us send the messages (Twilio) and store the data (Airtable). Both are used solely to operate this service.

How to Opt Out

Reply STOP to any text message at any time. We will stop contacting you immediately. If something goes wrong and you keep receiving messages after replying STOP, text HELP or contact us through this website. We take opt-outs seriously. We have enough on our plate.

Data Retention

We retain your information for as long as you are subscribed to our messages. If you opt out, your record is flagged as inactive. If you request deletion, we will remove your record entirely. To request deletion, text STOP or use the contact form on this site.

Cookies and Tracking

This website uses no tracking cookies. The visitor counter on our homepage is decorative. We do not run analytics on individual users. We are not watching you. We are fixing gates.

Program Description

The Scrabs SMS Alerts is a recurring text message program operated by The Scrabs. By opting in, you agree to receive text messages about upcoming live performances (referred to on this site as "jobs") in New York City. Message frequency varies — typically 1–4 messages per show cycle. We do not text you for no reason.

Message & Data Rates

Message and data rates may apply depending on your mobile carrier and plan. The Scrabs does not charge for messages. Your carrier might. That is between you and your carrier. We are not involved in that.

How to Opt In

You may opt in by: (1) texting any message to our number (929-600-7715), (2) submitting your phone number via the opt-in form on this website, which displays the disclosure "By submitting you agree to receive text notifications from The Scrabs. Reply STOP at any time to opt out. Msg & data rates may apply.", or (3) submitting the RSVP form on a show page, which displays the disclosure "By submitting, you agree to receive SMS notifications from The Scrabs about this and future shows. Reply STOP at any time to opt out. Msg & data rates may apply." All methods are explicit opt-in. We do not add anyone to the list without their consent.

How to Opt Out

Reply STOP to any message at any time to unsubscribe. You will receive one final confirmation and then no further messages. This is permanent until you opt in again.

Most major US carriers are supported including AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile, and others. Carrier support is not guaranteed for all networks. We are not responsible for undelivered messages due to carrier issues.
